Event information for residents of the event area

The Tall Ships Races Helsinki 2024 event will dock in Helsinki from July 4th to July 7th, 2024.

The Tall Ships Races Helsinki event will take place this upcoming summer in July, between July 4th and July 7th, 2024. The event area includes the areas of Kauppatori, Katajanokka, Eteläsatama, Kanavaranta, and Pohjoisranta. The construction works for the event in the area will begin on July 1st and end by July 9th.

The event will affect traffic arrangements in both the Eteläsatama and Katajanokka areas. Information regarding changes in traffic arrangements will be provided in May. The event is expected to draw up to 500,000 visitors, so it’s advisable to prepare for traffic congestions. The event area is open area, but event services will be available from Thursday to Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm and on the last day of the event, Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm.

Currently, over 50 impressive vessels have registered for the event, with the furthest ones arriving from Brazil and Ecuador. During the event days, there will be a diverse range of free programs available to the public. Tove Jansson Park will be filled with programs aimed at children. The harbor areas will host various restaurant services and live performances. Additionally, there will be a focus on Baltic Sea conservation in the program by different stakeholders.

The Tall Ships Races is Europe’s largest free family event. The purpose of the event is to promote education and cooperation among young people through a shared sailing event, regardless of nationality, cultural background, religion, or social background. The event brings dozens of impressive sailing ships with their crews to the city, around which the public event is built.

The Tall Ships Races Helsinki event is organized by the Helsinki Events Foundation, responsible for event productions in the city.
