Tall Ships Races Helsinki 4.-7.7.2024
The annual Tall Ships Races, an international competition for thousands of young people, takes place in the Baltic Sea every four years. The purpose of the event is to promote the education and cooperation of young people through a joint sailing event, regardless of nationality, cultural background, religion and social background. It brings to the city dozens of large and impressive sailing vessels with their crews, around which a large public event is built. Helsinki will serve as one of the race’s host ports from 4–7 July 2024, and the event is expected to attract around 500,000 visitors to the city. The event area is in the immediate city centre, the area of Eteläsatama, Kauppatori, Katajanokka, Kanavaranta and Pohjoisranta.
Tall Ships Races is Europe’s largest free family event and offers plenty of program for both the public and the vessel crews. There are six host ports participating in the 2024 Tall Ships Races event, three of which are in Finland. In addition to Helsinki, there are also Klaipeda in Lithuania, Tallinn in Estonia, Turku in Finland, Mariehamn in Åland and Szczecin in Poland.
The Tall Ships Races were last seen in Helsinki in 2013.
